Truck hits railroad signal at Northwest Highway and Wilke Road Arlington Heights YouTube Tips ⓘ
Police from Arlington Heights responded about 5:10 a.m. Friday, November 25, 2022 to a report that a truck crashed into a railroad crossing signal at Northwest Highway and Wilke Road.
No injuries were reported. Arlington Heights police officers provided traffic control, and notified the Metra Police Department and Union Pacific regarding the crash and damage. Metra trains were stopped near the crossing until about 6:10 a.m. when they were allowed to pass through slowly after the railroad tracks were inspected by Union Pacific personnel.
Repairs were ongoing during the day on Friday.
The incident marks the second time in less than a month that a crash damaged railroad crossing signals along Northwest Highway in Arlington Heights. On Sunday, October 30, 2022 a driver traveling over 100 MPH was involved in a glancing, rear-end crash with a sedan that had been stopped at a stoplight, and then the speeding driver hit a large crossing gate signal at Northwest Highway and Arlington Heights Road.
The investigation of the crash at Northwest Highway and Wilke Road is being conducted by Metra Police.
