Illinois State Police troopers, and police, firefighters, and paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 4:23 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2022 to a report of a vehicle fire on the exit ramp from westbound I-90 WEST to Arlington Heights.
Arlington Heights Fire Department Engine 3’s crew reported a fully-involved vehicle fire on the ramp. Elk Grove Township firefighters were also assigned because the Arlington Heights response faced oncoming traffic.
Firefighters reported that the vehicle’s fuel tank ruptured, and were requesting connection to a water supply at the scene. The vehicle was a Toyota — unknown model initially.
The scene was clear by about 5:40 p.m.
