Illinois State Police, and firefighters and paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 3:02 p.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 to a report of a crash with injuries on northbound I-294 WEST between Busse Highway and Dempster Street near Des Plaines and Park Ridge.
Tower 61’s crew on arrival reported two cars and an ambulance involved in a crash with minor damage. By 3:22 p.m. a total of seven ambulances were dispatched to the scene. A private ambulance was involved in the crash.
At one point an EMS Box Alarm was requested, but apparently a MABAS EMS Box Alarm was not activated.
All injuries initially appeared to be non-life-threatening “Code Green”. Firefighters and paramedics from Des Plaines, Park Ridge, Rosemont and Schiller Park were assigned to the crash. Some other nearby communities were assigned to stand by at Des Plaines fire stations.
Firefighters cleared the scene about 3:45 p.m.
Northbound I-294 WEST was backed up to Devon Avenue at 3:55 p.m.
