Snow outlook showing a 50 percent chance of accumulation less than one inch Sunday until about 6:00 a.m. Monday.

UPDATE: Less than one-half inch expected Sunday through Monday morning.

When there is a 50 percent chance of snow, there’s a 50 percent chance of no snow, but that wouldn’t be much of a headline. Some computer outlooks call for about one inch of snow to fall by noon Monday. Light snow is forecast to start about 10:00 a.m., but radar images at 9:30 a.m. show precipitation diminishing as it approaches the northwest suburbs from the southwest. The forecast model outlook calls for 1 inch accumulation between 10:00 am. today and 1:00 p.m. Monday.

The greatest accumulation is expected to fall between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. The greatest chance of heavy snow is in northern parts of southern Illinois.

The Cardinal outlook calls for less than one-half inch of snow will affect the northwest suburbs of Chicago.
