Heavy fighting and shelling was reported in Borodianka during the Russian invasion of Ukraine during the first days of March 2022.

Borodianka or Borodyanka is an urban-type settlement in Kyiv Oblast (province) of Ukraine northwest of the city of Kyiv. The population is 13,044 estimated in 2021. According to the 2001 census, the population of Borodianka was 12,535.

Borodianka is located on a river Zdvyzh which is a right tributary of Teteriv River.

November 8, 1943 Borodianka was liberated from occupation of Nazi Germany by the Soviet regiments of 75th Guards Rifle Division.
