Police, firefighters and paramedics from River Grove responded about 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 5, 2022 to a report of a house fire in the block of 2300 Grove Street in River Grove.
Firefighters arrived to find the garage of the house fully-involved with flames with the fire extending to the rear of the house. Firefighters reported water supply issues, which usually means that firefighters were faced with a broken fire hydrant or frozen fire hydrant. Firefighters were also faced with windy conditions. According to the NWS Chicago report at O’Hare International Airport, winds were 16 MPH from the west with gusts to 28 MPH with light snow and blowing snow.

Chicago Fire Department’s Squad 7 stationed at O’Hare was assigned to the front of the building, and operated the snorkel elevated platform as part of a mutual aid assignment with a Mutual Aid Box Alarm System (MABAS) Box Alarm.
A MABAS Division 20 Box Alarm #100 was activated at 7:37 a.m. and an EMS Box Alarm #199 was activated at 7:39 a.m. A Second Alarm for the Fire Box Alarm was activated at 7:47 a.m.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers Bellwood, Chicago, Maywood, and Norwood Park were assigned to the scene for the Fire Box Alarm.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Elmwood Park, Franklin Park, Melrose Park, and Schiller Park were assigned to the scene for the EMS Box Alarm.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Bellwood, Berkeley, Northlake, and Rosemont were assigned to the scene for the Second Alarm.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
