New Year’s Day Special: Deep snow that is easy to shovel could be headed our way Saturday, January 1, 2022.
There are three points of interest for the weather forecast for tonight and the next five days …
TONIGHT/OVERNIGHT: A snowy period from about 7:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. with an accumulation of about 0.4 inch.
FRIDAY NIGHT/SATURDAY: A winter mix of rain, sleet and snow Friday night (New Year’s Eve) and possible heavy snow on Saturday (New Year’s Day). Saturday fluffy snowfall (≥ 15:1 snow/water ratio) could amount to almost 7 inches between 7:00 am. Saturday and a taper from midnight until 5:00 a.m. Sunday morning.
SUNDAY/MONDAY: A high temperature of only 15° (Wind Chill high of 1°F) around 1:00 p.m. Sunday and a low of 7°F around midnight. Temperatures will be around 11°F Monday morning during rush hour.
Weather Radar shows precipitation in southern Wisconsin, western Illinois and central Illinois with a dry are over much of Chicagoland at 5:20 p.m. Precipitation showing as snow is moving from west southwest to east northeast.

Tonight: A 50 percent chance of snow, mainly before 2am. Cloudy, with a low around 29. Northeast wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
Thursday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 39. Northeast wind around 5 mph becoming south in the afternoon.
Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 32. Southwest wind around 5 mph, with gusts as high as 10 mph.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 41. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming east northeast in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 15 mph.
