WEATHER DETAILS
A ridge of high pressure has moved east of the area last night and now resides over the Ohio River Valley. Off to our north in Canada is an area of low pressure which is dragging a cold front down through the upper midwest and northern plains. This cold front will push through the area late this afternoon, but the dry air in place across the region will keep precipitation chances nonexistent. However, forecast soundings do show enough upper-level moisture to support a few passing cirrus clouds throughout the day today. The southwest winds ahead of the front will remain breezy today with gusts upwards of 20 to 25 mph. As the front moves through winds will veer towards the north-northwest this evening and decrease in magnitude with light winds expected overnight tonight into Tuesday morning.
Temperatures today will be slightly above normal for this time of year with the mostly to partly sunny skies and warm air advection ahead of the front allowing highs to top out around 40 degrees. Weak cold air will advect in behind the front which will drop temperatures into the upper teens and lower 20s tonight and keep temperatures a tad cooler on Tuesday with highs in the upper 30s with our southern County Warning Area getting close to 40 degrees.
Another low pressure system will begin to develop across the northern Rockies tonight and move east across the Dakotas on Tuesday and bring with it another cold frontal passage.
