Palatine Rural firefighter/paramedics and Inverness police responded about 9:03 PM Friday to a house fire in the block of 300 Windsor Lane Inverness, IL. Residents called 9-1-1 about 4:50 p.m. when they arrived home and found smoke in the house. The residents closed the basement door where the smoke was rising up the stairwell, which firefighters credit help slow down the rate of damage spread by the fire.

Long Grove and Prospect Heights firefighters responded with tanker trucks or tenders, as they were dispatched about 4:55 p.m. for the working fire response to a neighborhood with no fire hydrants. Palatine Rural FPD also has a tanker truck.
The basement walls were charred and contents in the basement were destroyed. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Firefighters from Barrington, Hoffman Estates, Buffalo Grove, East Dundee, Fox River Grove, Long Grove, Prospect Heights. Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, and West Dundee assisted Palatine and Palatine Rural District firefighters.
