Wednesday: Partly sunny, with a high near 57. Southeast wind 5 to 10 mph.
A sizable plume of lake-induced low level clouds was parked over areas along and east of IL Rt. 23 near Marengo, but narrowed eastward by 6:00 a.m. NWS Chicago expected that atmospheric conditions over Lake Michigan would likely continue to produce these clouds and keep conditions rather cloudy over a similar area through about 5:00 a.m. Along the lake and southeastward off the lake these clouds could be sticking around, however, into the afternoon. A few lake-effect showers could pop up as well for those along the lake, especially areas in and adjacent to Northwest Indiana through this morning. Winds over and immediately along the Lake Michigan will gust upwards of 15 to 20 mph through this morning with the occasional gust to 25 mph prior to daybreak.
In the far west suburbs, mostly clear skies will cool things down into the middle 30`s this morning bringing about a potential for some frost, especially for those in rural Winnebago, Ogle, and Lee counties. Skies over Arlington Heights are entirely clear with clouds on the far eastern horizon — NWS Chicago and CARDINAL NEWS edits.
