An Arkansas man was arrested by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office (Arkansas) on Thursday, October 14, 2021, after allegedly threatening the lives of two Lake County Illinois Judges.

Grayson K. Jackson (also known as Kash Jackson, and also known as Benjamin Winderweedle), 43, of the 200 block of Paris, Arkansas, contacted the Lake County Sheriff’s Court Security Office via telephone on October 7, 2021. Jackson threatened to kill two Judges during the telephone call. Both Judges presided over an ongoing civil case, which Jackson was involved.

Immediately following the threats, Sheriff’s Court Security Deputies reviewed the incident with the Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office. The Lake County State’s Attorney’s Office drafted a warrant for Jackson, for one count of threatening a public official. A Judge authorized the warrant, setting bond at $500,000.00 on October 7, 2021.

“I’m not happy with the fact that Illinois has approximately 20,000 individuals incarcerated … of these 20,000, they are primarily from victimless crimes, such as possession of cannabis. I served in the military to defend the American people against all enemies foreign and domestic; and it seems to me that the greatest threat to the American people and to Illinois citizens … it hasn’t been ISIS, it hasn’t been terrorists. The greatest threat to our people has been our legislators. My first action as governor would be to assess those who have been convicted of a victimless crime, and to release those individuals back to their families.”

— Grayson Kash Jackson, Libertarian candidate for Governor of Illinois in 2018

The warrant was entered into the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database and on October 14, 2021, Jackson was arrested by the Logan County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas, without incident.

Jackson remains held in the Logan County Jail pending extradition hearings.

Grayson Kash Jackson was a Libertarian candidate for Governor of Illinois in 2018. In an interview with The State Journal-Register, Jackson said he went into politics primarily because of his experiences that he had seen and dealt with through the Family Life Court System and the struggles he endured fighting to be a father of his children. He had been in a child custody and child support dispute in court with his ex-wife.

Sheriff John D. Idleburg said, “Threatening the life of someone you are upset with, let alone a sitting Judge, is inexcusable. We take our responsibility of maintaining the safety and security of our judiciary seriously, and will investigate death threats to a Judge, or anyone else, to the fullest extent.”

State’s Attorney Eric Rinehart said, “The safety of our judiciary and our court personnel is paramount. Our office approved charges after listening to the evidence. It is never ever justified to threaten a public official under any circumstances. Our office thanks the Sheriff and his team for their work in protecting our courthouse, and this defendant will have to face consequences for his threats that undermine the rule of law.”

Additional charges are likely.

All defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.

The State of Illinois will elect a new governor this November. This year, the race is full! 13 candidates from five different parties are all throwing their hats in the race. YouTube Tips ⓘ
