A Wauconda motorcyclist who crashed his motorcycle in the block of 500 Farmhill Circle about 4:50 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 after fleeing from a Wauconda police officer died 2 days after fleeing a traffic stop.
According to Wauconda police, 26-year-old Kenneth M. Farrar was driving a motorcycle without a registration at about 4:43 p.m. Thursday, September 2, 2021 when a Wauconca police officer attempted to pull him over at Brown Street and Slocum Lake Road.
Police said Farrar accelerated his motorcycle and fled from the police officer. Farrar continued north on Brown Street through a residential area, reaching speeds of up to 100 mph, according to police. When Farrar fled, the police officer immediately turned off his emergency lights and began patrolling the area near Brown Street where the motorcyclist was last seen. The area of the fleeing and eluding was located in a neighborhood just west of Wauconda High School.
Within minutes a resident in the block of 500 Farmhill Circle reported a motorcycle crash. Police officer on arrival to the scene found Farrar unresponsive and face down in a marsh area north of Brown Street and Farmhill Circle with his motorcycle also in the marsh area. He was unconscious and facedown in the water, police said. Paramedics found Farrar in traumatic cardiac arrest. CPR with Advanced Life Support was administered by Wauconda Fire District paramedics, and Farrar was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville. The exact time of his death was not initially available.
The Lake County Major Crash Assistance Team is leading the investigation of the crash along with the Wauconda Police Department and the Island Lake Police Department.
