Police, firefighters and paramedics from Prospect Heights responded about 2:31 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2021 to a report of a vehicle fire in the block of 1300 Cove Drive in Prospect Heights. Soon after the first call for help, firefighters received a report that the vehicle was close to a townhouse, and that the townhouse may have been catching on fire.
Engine 39’s crew first on the scene reported a fully-involved vehicle fire with exposure to a 2-story townhouse. All residents were being evacuated from the building. Initially, no injuries were reported.
Fire Command reported a positive water supply by 2:38 p.m.
The fire was declared “almost out” with a primary search underway by 2:39 p.m.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Des Plaines, Glenview, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Mount Prospect, and Wheeling were assigned to assist Prospect Heights firefighters. Most out of town firefighters were released and/or returned by 2:46 p.m.
