Police, firefighters and paramedics from Libertyville responded shortly after 3:20 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2021 to a report of a house fire in the block of 100 Johnson Street in Libertyville. Libertyville police on patrol discovered the house fire.
Firefighters on arrival by 3:30 a.m. reported a residential structure fully involved with fire.
A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm #46-10 was activated at 3:36 a.m.
Firefighters, paramedics, command officers, and/or investigators from Countryside, Deerfield, Grayslake, Gurnee, Lake Bluff, Lake Forest, and Mundelein were assigned to the fire scene.
Firefighters, paramedics and/or command officers from Buffalo Grove, Lake Villa, Lincolnshire-Riverwoods, Long Grove, Newport, Round Lake, and Zion were assigned to stand by at Libertyville fire stations.
At least one person was confirmed dead at the scene Friday morning after a body was found inside the house after the fire was knocked. A major crimes task force, fire marshal and the Lake County Coroner’s Office were on the scene Friday morning.
The fire with a fatality is under investigation by the Libertyville Police Department, Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal, Libertyville Fire Department and the Lake County Coroner’s Office.
