Rosemont and Cook County officials are scheduled to formally open a new pedestrian bridge Saturday morning, July 17, 2021 linking the entertainment district in Rosemont on the west side of the bridge with the nearby forest preserve trails and neighborhoods on the east side of the bridge.

The 12-foot-wide bridge was recently built over the Des Plaines River from the east end of Bryn Mawr Avenue in Rosemont to the Des Plaines River Trail in the Catherine Chevaliar Woods Forest Preserve in Cook County.

The bridge also provides access for residents of nearby Norridge and Harwood Heights less than 2-4 miles away from the east side of the bridge.

The west side the bridge provides access to the Parkway Bank Park Entertainment District and the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont.

The $1.3 million project was funded by the State of Illinois and the Village of Rosemont.

A ribbon-cutting ceremony, scheduled at 10 a.m. Saturday at the bridge, located near West Bryn Mawr Avenue, east of North River Road (near the west side of the bridge). Free parking is available on the south side of Bryn Mawr.

Among those expected to take part are Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle, Rosemont Mayor Brad Stephens, Forest Preserves General Superintendent Arnold Randall, Cook County Commissioner Peter Silvestri and other elected officials.
