According to the Addison Consolidated Dispatch Center — ACDC (9-1-1 Center) some landline phones in their service area may not have telephone access to the 9-1-1 center.
UPDATE: Landlines are back in service.
AT&T has reported that some landline phones may not be able to reach 9-1-1. In a case of landline failure, the public can reach 9-1-1 by using a cell phone instead of using a landline.
Callers may also attempt to use a non-emergency line for their local police department. Police departments are usually more likely to have 24-hour answering compared to fire departments. Therefore, callers should call the non-emergency police lines instead of the non-emergency fire department lines — even if the emergency is a fire, rescue or EMS emergency. The police department is expected make sure the fire department is dispatched.
AT&T is working to restore service.
Impacted areas include:
Hinsdale, Oak Brook, Oakbrook Terrace, Lagrange Park, and Westmont.
