Winthrop Harbor Fire Lt. Ayman Reffat was seriously injured early Saturday, May 1, 2021 in the block of 7400 Sheridan Road in Kenosha when he was riding his motorcycle to work and was hit by an SUV.
Reffat suffered multiple traumatic injuries and was transported by Kenosha Fire Department paramedics to Froedtert Pleasant Prairie Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition, and transferred to Level 1 Trauma Center Froedtert Hospital at the Milwaukee Regional Medical Center in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin.
According to a statement with a gofundme account set up to help with “every day expenses for his family, hospital bills, and anything else that is needed for his road to recovery,” Ayman Reffat has served as a firefighter/paramedic for Winthrop Harbor, Antioch, Newport Township and Zion Fire Department. In addition to being a firefighter/paramedic, has also served as a rescue diver, earned Firefighter of the Year, earned the rank of Lieutenant, and is a devoted father.
He has a newborn baby and two toddlers with fiancé, Elizabeth Garza, who is also a firefighter/EMT with Winthrop Harbor and an ER Technician at St. Catherine’s.
