High-speed crash Kirchoff Road near Oriole Lane Rolling Meadows with two vehicles separated about the distance of a football field. YouTube Tips ⓘ
Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Rolling Meadows responded about 10:26 p.m. Saturday, April 17, 2021 to a report of a rollover crash with injuries in the block of 2600 Kirchoff Road in Rolling Meadows.
Police, firefighters and paramedics arrived to find that the driver in each severely damaged vehicle was out of each vehicles, and that no extrication was required.
One driver was treated and transported with life-threatening injuries to an undisclosed hospital, and one driver was transported injuries initially believed to be non-life-threatening to Northwest Community Hospital.
Kirchoff Road was closed for an extended crash investigation between Oriole Lane and Iris Avenue until about 4:00 a.m. Sunday.
There was initially no official announcement from the Rolling Meadows Police Department about the crash, but from observations at the scene it appeared that the driver of an SUV and the driver of a Ford Mustang were westbound on Kirchoff Road.
Apparently the driver of the Ford Mustang was traveling at a high speed and crash into the back of the SUV about 200 feet west of Oriole Avenue. The impact may have pushed the SUV into a large tree on the north side parkway along Kirchoff Road, where the SUV bounced back into the street. The Ford Mustang continued a distance over 400 feet and came to rest with the driver’s side down on the ground and lawn turf embedded on the passenger side. The vehicle came to rest on a sidewalk on the north side of Kirchoff Road directly across from the west driveway to Meadows Christian Fellowship church.
Neighbors from several blocks around the crash scene heard the crash and arrived on the scene to see what happened.
Distances in map graphic below: 0 = approximate impact location, red pin = approximate location of SUV in street, 422.06 feet = approximate location of Ford Mustang on side (driver’s side down).
