Illinois State Police and Deerfield-Bannockburn firefighters and paramedics responded about 11:50 a.m. Sunday, March 28, 2021 to a report of a hit-and-run crash with shots fired on I-94 East (southbound) near the 23 Mile Marker (near Riverwoods to the west and Bannockburn to the east).
Illinois State Police are investigating an early report that a victim driving a white Honda Civic was rear-ended by the driver of a blue Chevy. The driver of the blue Chevy passenger car then fire at least three shots into the white Honda Civic. The vehicle was found with two bullet holes on the passenger side and one bullet hole in the windshield.
The driver of the white Honda Civic was injured, but initially was not believed to have been shot.
The offender driving the blue Chevy was initially only described as a male black subject.
ALL LANES were shut down on I-94 EAST in the area. I-94 WEST (northbound) was open in the area as of 1:09 p.m.
