Police, firefighters, and paramedics from Palatine responded about 8:30 a.m. Thursday, March 18, 2021 to a report of a fire in a car wash at 1490 North Quentin Road in Palatine.
Firefighters upgraded the call to a Working Fire (Code 4) as they saw black smoke as soon as they pulled out of the fire station nearby on Quentin Road.
The fire was declared out by about 8:50 a.m. There were no vehicles inside the car wash, but the car wash building was severely damaged. Fire was coming out both the entrance and exit of the car wash.

Palatine Fire Department is investigating the cause and origin of the fire.
Quentin Road was blocked in both directions just south of Dundee Road while firefighters extinguish the fire during rush hour traffic.
There were no injuries reported.
