The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 reported 9,757 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease (COVID-19) in Illinois, including 238 additional deaths, which is about 25 percent higher than the previous record. Regarding today’s data according to the IDPH, some data reported to IDPH is delayed from the weekends, including this past Thanksgiving holiday weekend. On May 13, 2020 the previous record high was set at 192 deaths with 1,677 new cases.
The IDPH Wednesday, December 2, 2020 report indicated 71 additional deaths in Cook County, 13 additional deaths in Lake County, 8 additional deaths in McHenry County, and 13 additional deaths in McHenry County.
In Cook County, Coronavirus deaths involved 10 people under 60 years-old. The preliminary seven-day statewide test positivity from November 25 – December 1, 2020 is 12.5%, according to the IDPH.
According to the IDPH, Region 10 (suburban Cook County) reported 0 days of test positivity under the 12% threshold. The latest Daily Test Positivity rate was reported at 12.4%. The latest Daily Test Positivity was 13.2%. The IDPH reported 6 days of Hospital Admission Decreases.
The Medical Surgical Bed Availability was reported as 11 consecutive days above the threshold of 20% (GOOD RESULT).
ICU Bed Availability was reported as one day under the threshold of 20%, after hovering around 20% for about 5 days (BAD RESULT).

Currently, IDPH is reporting a total of 748,603 cases, including 12,639 deaths, in 102 counties in Illinois. The age of cases ranges from younger than one to older than 100 years. Within the past 24 hours, laboratories have reported 85,507 specimens for a total 10,699,586. As of last night, 5,764 in Illinois were reported to be in the hospital with COVID-19. Of those, 1,190 patients were in the ICU and 714 patients with COVID-19 were on ventilators.
