French police dismantled tents set up at Place de la Republique in Paris that had been set up by refugees that weren’t assisted with relocation after they were evacuated from makeshift suburban shelters
Photos and videos from Monday night November 23, 2020 at the Place de la Republique in northeast Paris showed law enforcement officers forcibly removing refugees from tents. Populists prefer the term migrants, but hundreds of Parisian residents arrived to support the cause of the displaced people. The setup of the tent camp at Place de la Republique followed evacuation of the Saint-Denis camp by the French authorities last week.
French Interior Minister Gerald Darmanin said he is launching an investigation into clashes that broke out late as police and Gendarmerie cleared out a refugee camp in Place de la Republique in Paris.
Several arrests were made and scuffles broke out as police arrived to remove the tents of refugees, set up at the Place de la Republique, in Paris, on Monday.
