Lake County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighter/paramedics from Antioch responded about 5:54 p.m. Wednesday, September 9, 2020 to a report of a fire at the Thirsty Turtle Bar and Grill, 42273 North Woodbine Avenue in Antioch. A neighbor called 9-1-1 reporting a fire the bar and grill.

Firefighters from the Antioch Fire Department and Lake County Sheriff’s deputies arrived on the scene of the fire by 5:58 p.m. and discovered flames showing inside the building. Firefighters searched the building for victims, and confirmed there were no victims inside.

Early alert for Thirsty Turtle fire …

A MABAS Division 4 Box Alarm #21-A2 was activated at 5:59 p.m. with staging for fire equipment at Lake Ave and Woodbine Ave.

Firefighters had the bulk of the fire extinguished by about 7:30 p.m.

One firefighter was injured at the scene of the Thirsty Turtle Bar and Grill fire.

Fire operations closed Lake Avenue in both directions north of Route 173. Thirsty Turtle Bar and Grill is located just east of Lake Street and north of Route 173 near the west shore of Channel Lake.
