Jovan Tyler’s family said he was shot in a case of mistaken identity due to the car he was driving (Eric Horng).
Jovan Tyler was on his way to work as an electrician in his black Dodge Challenger in the block of 1900 West 74th Street when he was shot in the West Englewood neighborhood of Chicago. Jovan Tyler, an electrician, was transported to Level 1 Trauma Center Advocate Christ Medical Center.
Hours before Tyler was shot, there was a shooting in the block of 8600 South Honore Street with an 18 year-old woman and a 4 year-old boy were hit in shooting crossfire. The suspect in the Honore Street shooting was driving the same make and model vehicle as Jovan Tyler. His family thinks that Jovan Tyler was shot in a case of mistaken identity in retaliation of the shooting on South Honore near 86th Street about 2 miles away.
