Union Fire Protection District and McHenry County Sheriff’s Deputies responded about 2:29 a.m. Friday July 24, 2020 to a report of a house fire in the block of 9900 Stacy Lane in Union.
Upon arrival firefighters found the rear of the home well-involved with fire. With the fire extending in the home, Union Fire Protection District activated a Division 5 MABAS Box Alarm #5-1670-95 at about 2:59 a.m.
Firefighter/paramedics and/or command officers from Crystal Lake, Genoa-Kingston, Hampshire, Huntley, McHenry, Pingree Grove, Rutland-Dundee responded mutual aid to assist Union Fire Protection District firefighters.
Crystal Lake and Genoa Kington responded with Tenders (water tanker trucks) to the scene, where the neighborhood has no fire hydrants.
Firefighters from Walworth and Fox River Grove were assigned to stand by in the Union fire station. Firefighters from Walworth were unable to respond.
No injuries were reported.
The MABAS Box Alarm was struck out about 3:49 a.m.
The fire damaged a screened-in porch, rear deck, family room, kitchen and dining room. The home was declared uninhabitable. The fire, which may have been caused by an electrical problem, is under investigation. Damage is estimated to be in excess of $300,000.
