Huntley police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 7:15 a.m. Wednesday July 8, 2020 to a report of medical emergency aboard a hot air balloon, requiring an emergency landing in a residential neighborhood southwest of the cross streets of Ackman Road and Haligus Road in Huntley on Danbury Circle near Worthington Lane.
An 80-year-old woman reportedly lost consciousness during an early morning hot air balloon sightseeing flight over Lake in the Hills, causing the pilot to make the emergency landing in the Huntley residential neighborhood.
Hot Air Balloons are seen flying over our communities on a regular basis. This morning we were called by a pilot for a medical emergency. The pilot did an amazing job landing in this residential neighborhood, meeting our crew’s so that medical attention could be rendered.
Huntley Fire Protection District reported the woman had regained consciousness by the time firefighter/paramedics arrived at the scene of the balloon landing zone. The woman was transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital. The woman’s condition was initially believed to be non-life-threatening.
