Gurnee police responded just after midnight on Wednesday June 25, 2020 to a report of vehicle burglaries in progress in the block of 900 Ralph Avenue in Gurnee. The 911 caller further stated the two offenders involved in the burglaries fired two rounds toward the homeowner.
The homeowner was alerted by the Ring doorbell system regarding activity happening in the driveway. The homeowner looked outside and witnessed two individuals going through the interior of an unlocked vehicle parked in the driveway. The homeowner opened the front door and yelled for the offenders to leave the property. While the offenders were running away from the area, they shot two rounds toward the homeowner. Two bullet holes were located on the exterior of the residence, and no one was injured during the incident. The offenders left the area prior to the arrival of Gurnee police officers in the neighborhood located on Gurnee’s east side.
The homeowner assisted investigators by retrieving the Ring video, which captured the entire incident. Both offenders were wearing face masks, and one is depicted wearing a black Champion sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. They ran from the immediate area. Surrounding video surveillance cameras investigated did not indicate a vehicle was used during the offense.
In recent weeks, Gurnee residents have reported several vehicles being burglarized during the overnight hours. Images of the suspects were captured on doorbell cameras and other surveillance videos, indicating one subject wearing a black Champion sweatshirt and gray sweatpants. Detectives developed information regarding the suspects in these cases and obtained arrest warrants for those individuals.
Suspects accused of a crime are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Following the shooting that occurred on June 25, 2020, detectives soon realized the offenders resembled the suspects from other motor vehicle burglary cases in Gurnee and developed a plan to take both subjects into custody. On Saturday June 27, 2020, Ian F. Matus, 18, of Gurnee, was taken into custody by Gurnee officers without incident. Matus was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 felony) and Burglary (Class 3 felony).
Maseo Baptiste Rosser, 19, of Zion turned himself in to authorities on June 27, 2020. Maseo B. Rosser was charged with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class 1 felony), Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon (Class 3 felony), and Burglary (Class 3 felony).
Both subjects remain in custody at the Lake County Jail.
