Police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 6:56 p.m. Sunday, June 21, 2020 to Naper Boulevard, south of Plank Road, for a vehicle crash involving a 2005 red Honda CRV and a 2009 gray Nissan Altima.
The driver of the Nissan Altima was transported from the scene to a local hospital with serious injuries. The driver of the Honda CRV was transported from the scene to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The red Honda was driven by Bakari M. Diaby, a 22-year-old male from Naperville. The gray Nissan was driven by a 55-year-old female out of Glen Ellyn.
Due to the nature of the incident, members of the Naperville Traffic Unit trained in accident investigation and reconstruction responded to the scene for the investigation. Naper Boulevard was closed and traffic re-routed until the road was reopened at approximately 12:30 a.m. in northeast Naperville.
The initial investigation indicated that the Honda CRV was traveling southbound on Naper Boulevard when it crossed over the double yellow lane dividers and struck the Nissan Altima, which was traveling northbound on Naper Boulevard.
Bakari M. Diaby, the driver of the Honda CRV was later arrested and charged with the following:

Driving Under the Influence of Alcohol
Illegal Transportation of Cannabis
Illegal Lane Usage
Failure to Reduce Speed
Operating an Uninsured Motor Vehicle
