On Wednesday April 29, 2020, the Mount Prospect Police Department arrested vehicle burglary suspect Jamal Perteete, 28 years-old, of 1501 West Cottonwood Lane, Mount Prospect, Illinois. Perteete was charged with two felony counts of Unlawful Use of a Weapon by a Felon, two felony counts of Possession of a Controlled Substance, one felony count of Burglary to Motor Vehicle and eight misdemeanor counts of Criminal Trespass to Vehicle. These charges all stem from a 911 call of a burglary to motor vehicle investigation in the parking lot of the block of 1300 Sir Lancelot Lane.
On Wednesday April 29, 2020 at approximately 5:10 AM, the Mount Prospect Police Department responded to the area of 1304 Sir Lancelot for a 911 call of a burglary to motor vehicle in progress. Upon arrival, Mount Prospect police officers located a person matching the description, running away from the area. After a short foot pursuit, the suspect was detained. A witness positively identified Jamal Perteete as the suspect in a burglary to motor vehicle. Perteete was taken into custody and transported to the Mount Prospect Police Station. Mount Prospect Police Detectives executed a search warrant on Perteete’s home, which resulted in locating two handguns that were taken from burglary to motor vehicle cases.
Perteete was transported to a Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows for a bond hearing on April 30, 2020, where his bond was set at $30,000.00 “D”. The next court date for Perteete is set for May 13, 2020, at the Cook County 3rd District Courthouse in Rolling Meadows in room 108 at 10:30 AM.
Mount Prospect police reminded the public that criminal charges are not evidence of guilt and that all defendants in a criminal case are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
