A strong gas odor was reported during much of the day on Tuesday April 28, 2020. Lake County residents reported smelling the odor of gas northwest, west and southwest of the North Shore gas facility at Route 45 and Peterson Road.
The odor associated with natural gas was reported today in Cary, Island Lake, Lake in the Hills, and Libertyville. The odor is reported to be related to operations at North Shore Gas at the southwest corner of Route 45 and Peterson Road.
Winds today have been from the east blowing toward the southwest, toward the west, and toward the northwest throughout the day.
No flame or fire was reported. No dangers or hazards were reported.

Winds were calm very early Tuesday morning with fog covering much of Chicagoland. relative Humidity was above 95% from about 11:55 p.m. Monday to 8:55 a.m. Tuesday. Relative Humidity was observed to be 100% at5:55 a.m. and 7:55 a.m. at Waukegan Regional Airport, according to the National Weather Service.
Air temperature was in the 50s at Waukegan Regional Airport during the day on Tuesday.
