The Chicago Police Department on Friday, April 10, 2020 announced that a second Chicago police officer died from Coronavirus COVID-19. The police officer was a sergeant in the Area Central Detective Division. His identity was not initially released.
The news was released one day after the private burial service for Officer Marco Di Franco, 50, who was laid to rest Thursday, April 9, 2020 in a private burial service after he suffered a Line of Duty Death. Di Franco became ill in late March and died shortly after midnight on Thursday, April 2, 2020.
