Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights responded about 2:00 p.m Saturday, April 4, 2020 to a report that an armed male offender entered a home in the block of 2400 North Evergreen Avenue.

House scene was at southwest corner of Evergreen Avenue and Waverly Road, not southeast. Scene at house is secured, and at about 5:00 p.m. is being investigated as a crime scene. The Arlington Heights police have not offered any details about this scene.
Initially police did not locate the armed offender, but some people were evacuated from the home. At least one man appeared to have suffered a superficial wound to his arm. He was treated and released at the scene by paramedics.
The scene has the looks of a possible standoff. Two Bearcat armored vehicles arrived by about 3:05 p.m.
There is a NIPAS SWAT EMERGENCY RESCUE TEAM response at the scene.
Witnesses in the neighborhood reported hearing shots fired, and reported seeing people running and yelling near the house at the southeast corner of Evergreen Avenue and Waverly Road.
