Fatal crash Thursday 10:41 p.m. at Golf Road (Route 58) and Algonquin Road (Route 62) closed roadways for investigation until 4:55 a.m. Friday, March 27, 2020 (VIDEO SHOWS SEVERE DAMAGE TO A VEHICLE; VIEWER DISCRETION ADVISED).
Police from Arlington Heights and Rolling Meadows and firefighter/paramedics from Rolling Meadows and Schaumburg responded about 10:41 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2020 to a report of a rollover crash with entrapment and fire. A caller reported that a person was inside and that the car exploded, and that flames were too severe to get close.
Rolling Meadows firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered a passenger car had hit a large traffic signal standard at the southeast corner of Algonquin Road and Golf Road. The vehicle was severely damaged and fully-involved with fire.

Firefighter/paramedics determined that the driver of the vehicle was dead inside the vehicle. Police determined the crash was in the jurisdiction of Arlington Heights, and the Arlington Heights Police Department requested crash investigation assistance from the Major Case Assistance Team Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction team (MCAT-STAR). The crash remains under investigation after the on-scene investigation, and likely involves excessive speed.
Arlington Heights firefighter/paramedics worked on extrication to remove the driver’s body from the crashed vehicle from about 4:00 a.m. to 4:35 a.m. The driver was believed to be a female in her 30s, but the information was not confirmed by police early Friday.
The entire intersection was closed between 10:41 p.m. Thursday and 4:55 a.m. Friday. Golf Road was closed between Arlington Heights Road and the Meijer west driveway. Algonquin Road was closed between Meijer Drive and Kennicott Avenue.
