Police and firefighters from Porterville responded about 4:14 p.m. PT to a fire involving the Porterville Public Library, 41 West Thurman Avenue in Porterville, California. Upon arrival, firefighters discovered smoke and fire coming from the building. A Second Alarm was activated at 4:17 p.m.
Porterville firefighters received mutual aid from Tulare County Fire Department, Tulare City Fire Department, Fresno Fire and CAL FIRE, involving about 50 firefighters. Imperial Ambulance paramedics were also on the scene.
The fire is under investigation by the Porterville Police Department and Porterville Fire Department.
