Illinois State Police and firefighter/paramedics from Arlington Heights and Palatine responded about 7:59 a.m. Sunday February 16, 2020 to a report of a crash with injuries on the Route 53 spur just north of Dundee Road.
Firefighter/paramedics from Palatine, first on the scene, reported a vehicle off in the trees in a ditch with a light pole down. Next, firefighter/paramedics discovered the driver ran from the scene, leaving two passengers in the car to explain what happened.
There was no confirmation on patient transports, and possibly nobody was actually injured.
Illinois State Police are investigating. Arlington Heights jurisdiction is located just beyond the trees east of the Route 53 spur, but it is unknown whether Arlington Heights police officers or Cook County Sheriff’s deputies, who also have a jurisdiction nearby, were notified to help search for the fleeing driver.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
