Firefighters are pulling off daring rescues from a 25-story high-rise inferno in Los Angeles … where several residents are trapped by the smoke and flames.
Los Angeles Fire Department firefighters responded about 8:37 a.m. PT Wednesday, January 29, 2020 to a high-rise fire in the block of 110000 Wilshire Boulevard in the Brentwood area of west Los Angeles.
Flames and black smoke were scene from windows on the 6th story level of a 25-story residential building.
As firefighters were dispatched, they received reports of people jumping from windows and balconies. Eventually it was learned that nobody had to jump from the high-rise building.
Video from a witness showed at least one person scaling the side of the building as thick smoke billowed from nearby windows. The fire appeared to be burning on the sixth floor and nearby floors.
Rescue helicopters from Los Angeles Fire Department and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Office were involved in rooftop rescues and evacuations.
The fire is under control (fire is out) and firefighters
Eight people were injured. One injured person was treated with CPR and Advanced Life Support. One patient was a pediatric patient — 3-months old. Fire official said six of the patients suffered smoke inhalation.
There as a fire at this same building in 2013.
