SOME GRAPHIC LANGUAGE: Fully-involved Cadillac: Not a good idea to stand directly behind a vehicle. The air bag canister can detonate and become a projectile that flies through the rear window.

San Diego Fire Department Engine 19 crew responded to a car fire earlier this month. The video demonstrates where not to stand during a car fire. A female driver of the vehicle walks directly behind the vehicle while it is fully-involved with flames. Air bag canisters can detonate from the fire and fly straight through the rear window of a vehicle. The flying air bag canister becomes a missile with sharp metal that can travel more than 30 yards. Contact with a human being could be deadly.
