Police and firefighter/paramedics from Des Plaines responded about 1:32 p.m. Tuesday December 31, 2019 to a check for well-being call near Maple Street and Lincoln Avenue. Police, first on the scene, requested that firefighter/paramedics stage nearby. Paramedics did not transport any victims to the hospital.

A neighbor said they believed police were investigating a homicide or death, but police did not release any information about the investigation.
The Major Case Assistance Team (MCAT) van responded to the scene, and a panoramic camera was used for forensic photography in the northwest corner of the rear parking lot. The parking lot is located behind a 2-story building at 1792 Oakton Street with apartments over commercial space that has been used for medical offices. The parking lot is also located just south of a single family home on Maple Street.
Firefighters returned to scene to assist police about 8:00 p.m. and left a short time later. Police remained on the scene past 8:30 p.m.
Maple Street was blocked between Oakton Street and Lincoln Avenue during the investigation.
