Palatine police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:06 PM Wednesday December 18, 2019 to a report of a crash with entrapment at Route 53 and Route 14 Palatine, IL. Police and firefighter/paramedics received a report that at least one vehicle rolled over in a crash.
A Palatine fire crew on arrival reported five vehicles involved in a crash with moderate to heavy damage.
Initially all crash victims were medical refusals, except the driver in the vehicle that rolled over.
The inside shoulder and Lane 1 and Lane 2 were shut down during rescue operations of southbound and/or northbound Route 53. Fire equipment was also parked in the northbound lanes with some firefighter/paramedics working over the center barrier.
Southbound Route 53 was backed up to Dundee Road at 5:35 p.m. Northbound Route 53 was backed up to Woodfield Road at 5:35 p.m.
