Fight aftermath very early morning Saturday December 14, 2019 following scheduled Katie Belle performance with The De Funked on Friday the 13th December 13, 2019 at H.O.M.E. Bar in Prospect Heights.
Area police officers responded about 2:45 a.m. Saturday December 14, 2019 when several fights occurred in the parking lot in front of H.O.M.E. Bar at 1227 North Rand Road Arlington Heights (mailing address in Prospect Heights), in the Prospect Crossings parking lot. Following an event with musical performers “The De Funked with Katie Belle from American Idol 2019″ the large crowd of possibly about 1,000 people spilled out into the parking lot. Five or six fights broke out in the parking lot about 2:45 a.m. (estimated). Prospect Heights police officers were already on the scene throughout the night and early morning hours for safety reasons for the extra large crowd.
There was no confirmation whether the fighting crowd was connected in any way to the audience that attended show by The De Funked with Katie Belle. However, a female witness at the scene said that she didn’t know of any large private parties at the popular nightclub and entertainment venue, and said most of the crowd was there to see the headline music event.
When the fights broke out, fists were thrown and several people were struck in the face. However, Prospect Heights firefighter/paramedics were not called to the scene as of 3:30 a.m. Prospect Heights police officers called for an ILEAS mutual aid response with about 15 law enforcement agencies responding. ILEAS is the acronym for Illinois Law Enforcement Alarm System formed by over 900 local governments that is designed to respond in matters connected to emergency responses that combine resources for public safety and terrorism prevention-related activities and response tasks.
A large number of police units from Arlington Heights responded along with a large number of Mount Prospect police units. There were also one or two police units from Buffalo Grove, Cook County Sheriff, Des Plaines, Northbrook, Palatine, Park Ridge, Riverwoods, Rosemont, Wheeling and four others. Police cars and police SUVs covered the parking lot from Rand Road all the way to the entrance to H.O.M.E. Bar and to the canopy at the front of Tony’s Fresh Foods. The scene was mostly cleared by 3:40 a.m.
No serious injuries were initially reported, but a few people were seen holding their own faces with their hands. There was a staging area in the parking lot where several people were taken into custody. One Ford sedan that was parked near the front entrance to H.O.M.E. Bar was towed away as a police tow.
Prospect Heights police are investigating, and initially there was no information whether any of the subjects in custody would be charge with any crimes. There was initially no awareness to CARDINAL NEWS of any weapons displayed or any shots fired.
The information in this article is an early report published before any summary information was confirmed or released by police authorities.
