A Georgia man says he is proud of his wife for protecting her family during a home invasion. Police say the suspect, Paul Ali Slater, is currently hospitalized and is being charged with burglary.

A Loganville, Georgia mom hid her two 9-year-old twins, and shot an intruder, Paul Ali Slater, five times during a home invasion on Friday. Slater is reported to have broken through three doors before he got near the mom and her two children.

The Loganville mom called her husband after the intruder started knocking on the door about 1:00 p.m. Friday. The mom called her husband and took the children to a crawlspace. Her husband called police, while the intruder began to rummage through the house. Slater approached the closet where the three were hiding, and was shot five time in the face and neck. He was able to flee to his SUV, which he crashed in a nearby wooded area.

Dan Gross, President of Brady Campaign to Prevent Gun Violence speaks on gun violence in front of the White House on the day that Vice President Joe Biden heard the personal stories of gun violence from representatives of victims groups and gun-safety organizations. Biden is working on the Obama administration’s response to the shooting at a Connecticut elementary school.

More than a decade since releasing his controversial gun control documentary “Bowling for Columbine,” filmmaker Michael Moore gives his views on gun law and what needs to be done to end violence in schools, and says he never thought a decade later that his film did no good.
