MOST SNOW IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS WILL FALL BETWEEN 7AM AND 4PM THURSDAY OCT 31 2019

A main upper level storm system Wednesday afternoon is beginning to shift over the central High Plains of CO and western Kansas. This storm system is expected to shift eastward over the mid and lower Missouri Valley tonight. A surface low pressure will begin to consolidate over the Ohio Valley into early Thursday morning and the weather system is expected to intensify Thursday with lower level circulation. The Jet Stream is forecast to push down near the Gulf Coast Thursday. In north central Illinois near Rockford, precipitation is expected begin as a mix of rain and snow, and quickly transition to snow. Rockford snow is forecast to being by 8 PM and continue through 1PM Thursday with over 5 inches of snowfall possible.

INTENSE SNOW MAY BEGIN AT 8AM IN ARLINGTON HEIGHTS BUT MIGHT NOT BEGIN TO ACCUMULATE UNTIL 11AM BECAUSE OF INITIAL GROUND TEMPERATURE ABOVE FREEZING. SNOW THAT ACCUMULATES WILL BE HEAVY “HEART ATTACK” SNOW.

In Arlington Heights sprinkles are already beginning and heavier rain is expected begin about 9 PM, continue all night, start mixing with snow about 5AM and change over to all snow between 8AM and 11AM. In Arlington Heights, the most intense snowfall will occur between 7AM and 4PM and stop by 7PM. A total of 2.2 inches of snowfall is forecast for Arlington Heights. Winds will be gusting from the north-northeast and will shift to the northwest by 10AM. Gusts will 22 to 25 MPH overnight and peak to about 31 MPH from 1PM to 3PM.

Weather Radar (also nexrad.chgowx.com) shows light precipitation moving southwest to northeast in patches over all of northern Illinois. Snow is beginning to show on radar north and northeast of Quad Cities in northwest Illinois at 5:20 p.m.




 O’HARE FORECAST … 

This Afternoon: A 50 percent chance of rain. Cloudy, with a high near 40. North northeast wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Tonight: Rain before 5am, then rain, possibly mixed with snow. Low around 35. North wind around 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Thursday: Rain and snow, becoming all snow after 11am. Temperature falling to around 33 by 11am. Breezy, with a north northwest wind 15 to 20 mph, with gusts as high as 30 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Thursday Night: Snow likely before 7pm. Cloudy during the early evening, then gradual clearing, with a low around 24. West wind 10 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 25 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30.

Saturday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 38.

Saturday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 27.

Sunday: Partly sunny, with a high near 43.

Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35.
