Pedestrian hit by vehicle dead at scene on Algonquin Road east of Carriage Way Drive, Rolling Meadows on Saturday night.
Rolling Meadows Police Department confirmed Monday September 23, 2019 that the police department is investigating a vehicle vs pedestrian traffic crash that resulted in the fatality of a pedestrian. Police say that the crash occurred approximately 10:15 p.m. Saturday September 21, 2019 on Algonquin Road just east of Carriageway Drive while the vehicle was driven eastbound on Algonquin Road. The stopped vehicle, with the victim underneath the vehicle, was located about 300 feet east of the intersection of Algonquin Road and Carriage Way Drive.
The victim was identified as Jason Estavane, age 21, of the block of 5000 Weber Drive in Rolling Meadows.
The Rolling Meadows Police Department is being assisted by the Serious Traffic Accident Reconstruction (STAR) Team. First members of the STAR team were on the scene by about 11:40 p.m. The STAR Team worked several hours at the scene, and are continuing to investigate the crash with the Rolling Meadows Police Department.
A second passenger vehicle was also located stopped at the scene in the eastbound curb lane. The involvement of the occupant(s) of that vehicle was unknown.
The vehicle that struck Jason Estavane was located in the center lanes and/or center median area of Algonquin Road. Firefighter/paramedics needed to lift the vehicle with air bags and needed to use wood cribbing for stabilization of the vehicle in order to remove Estavane’s body from underneath the small SUV.
At least three ambulances were dispatched to the scene, and apparently at least two other people were transported from the scene to Northwest Community Hospital with police following one of the ambulances.
A gofundme donation page was established Sunday, September 22, 2019 for the funeral of Jason Estevane …
