Rosemont police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:28 p.m. Friday July 19, 2019 when the Rosemont Public Safety Department received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting that a person was struck by a westbound CTA train and was injured on the station platform at 5701 River Road in Rosemont. Police and firefighter/paramedics on arrival discovered one injured person on the CTA platform. The injured male was treated and transported to Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights.
Police detectives respond to the scene to investigate the incident. Rosemont Public Safety Supt. Donald E. Stephens III released a statement that preliminary information indicated that the person jumped from the CTA train as it was departing from the station. Multiple Blue Line CTA trains were halted and delayed as police gathered information about what occurred.
CTA train movement at the Rosemont station was resumed by 4:00 p.m. The Rosemont station is the last westbound station before the O’Hare terminus of the CTA Blue Line at O’Hare International Airport.
