The Prospect Heights Aldi store, which uses an Arlington Heights address at 1432 East Rand Road will hold a ribbon-cutting re-opening at 8:25 a.m. Thursday July 18, 2019. The ceremony will be followed by a Golden Ticket giveaway offering gift cards to the first 100 customers, and shoppers can also sample Aldi-exclusive brand foods and enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a year’s supply of Aldi produce.
The Hoffman Estates store at 375 West Higgins Road, just east of the Golf Road intersection, is having a re-opening ceremony on Friday, June 28, 2019. Both stores are part of the $1.9 billion Aldi investment to remodel and expand more than 1,300 stores nationwide by the end of 2020. Locally, Aldi is investing $180 million to update more than 130 stores in Chicago and the suburbs.
The investment involves a refreshed look inside and outside, emphasizing a more earth-tone look on the inside. The Prospect Heights store is enlarged to the east, and will carry additional products compared to the older, smaller store.
The re-modeled Arlington Heights Aldi store at 550 East Golf Road re-opened last year on Thursday, July 19, 2018.
Local grocery customers have also had to endure a re-organization of aisles at the Mariano’s store owned by Kroger. For the past two months many people at the Arlington Heights store at 802 East Northwest Highway were confused shoppers as most products were re-located to another aisle. In addition, Mariano’s online product locator for the Arlington Heights store did not function during the re-location process. As of June 26, 2019, the online product locator specific to the store appears to be working at Mariano’s.
