Woodfield Security vehicle caught up in an embankment with some trees and a light pole, and driver trapped but not injured, early morning Sunday, June 2, 2019.
Schaumburg police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 3:09 AM Sunday June 2, 2019 to a report of a rollover crash with extrication needed at 42.044696, -88.041537 (5 Woodfield Mall Schaumburg, Il). Police were first on the scene, and confirmed one driver was trapped and would require extrication.
The driver was extricated and undergoing evaluation with paramedics in the ambulance by 3:22 a.m.
The entrapment crash occurred when a security vehicle rolled over on Perimeter Drive on the southwest side of Woodfield Mall near Lower Level Door 7. The crash was located off the roadway of Perimeter Drive, just beyond a retaining wall.
The security vehicle — a small white SUV — was rolled on its passenger side and was supported on a light pole and/or tree.
There was minor or no injury to the driver, and there was moderate to heavy damage to the vehicle.
Pavement was drive, and the cause of the crash was not initially available. It appeared that the SUV may have been driven southbound on Perimeter Drive at high speed, and that the driver did not make the turn where the roadway curves from south to east.
According to a Google Maps Street View image captured September 2015, the posted Speed Limit along Perimeter Drive is 25 MPH (enforced by Schaumburg Police Ordinance #95-53).
The information in this article is an early report published before any information was confirmed or released by police or fire authorities.
