Friendswood, Texas Mansion Fire While Storms Moved Through Area Destroys $2.6 Structure

Firefighters fought a fully-involved mansion fire on FM 528 in Friendswood, Texas as storms moved through the area overnight.

The Friendswood Fire Department responded overnight to a fire involving at a mansion on FM 528 that was once a venue known as the White House Ranch. The initial 9-1-1 call reported heavy smoke throughout the home.

Firefighters switched to defensive mode and had to hold off on raising aerial ladder tower mains because of severe lightning according to Battalion Chief Mark Faber.

Large hail and lightning was experienced in the area (see hail photos below ads). The cause of the fire was not initially confirmed, but a lightning strike-cause fire is a possibility.
