VIDEO showing search operations in Buffalo Grove near Willow Stream Park before police discovered he was with his father in Chicago.
Buffalo Grove police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 1:09 p.m. to a report of a missing 3-year-old boy. Police set up a wide search area near the boy’s home near Manchester Drive and Old Checker Road in Buffalo Grove.
Arlington Heights police were also on the scene assisting Buffalo Grove police, firefighters, and public works personnel.
Public works personnel were searching on bike paths in the area with several vehicles.
Firefighters also set up their aerial tower truck in two locations to get an aerial view of the neighborhood. A command post was set up in Willow Stream Park with the Fire Department Battalion Chief and Buffalo Grove’s Mobile Comm van.
By about 3:15 p.m. Friday, Buffalo Grove police learned the boy was found safe in Chicago with his father.
Village of Buffalo Grove officials had posted on their Facebook page asking residents to be on the lookout for the boy, who they believed to have walked out of the back door of his home. Some residents may also have received reverse 9-1-1 calls to alert them of the missing child.
Police did not release any additional details.
