A man who was walking into a McHenry Home Depot Sunday March 31, 2019 at about 12:42 p.m. died from his injuries. Police have not initially released the man’s identity. The preliminary autopsy results are expected to be released later today.
McHenry police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 12:42 p.m. Sunday March 31, 2019 to a report that a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and injured just before walking into Home Depot at 2461 Richmond Road in McHenry (LIVE TRAFFIC MAP).
The incident occurred directly outside an entrance/exit to the Home Depot store when a large white pickup truck hit a male pedestrian walking into the store.
The male adult victim with possible serious injuries was transported to the helipad at Northwestern McHenry Hospital and then flown by Flight for Life to Level I Trauma Center Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville.
Police report there was no indication of drugs or alcohol impairing the driver of the pickup truck. McHenry police are investigating. The main drive in front of the store at the middle of the building was taped off during the investigation. A white pickup truck was apparently northbound on the main drive next to the front of the building when the man was hit.
There was initially no confirmation of the identity, age or condition of the man that was hit.
