Illinois State police and firefighter/paramedics responded about 5:49 AM Saturday March 30, 2019 to a report of a crash involving a disabled vehicle hit on NB I-294 just north of Golf Road near Des Plaines and Glenview, Il (LIVE TRAFFIC MAP). An Illinois State Police trooper already on the scene with a disabled vehicle reported witnessing a crash with ejection and multiple injuries when the disabled vehicle was hit by another vehicle on northbound I-294 near Golf Road. The Illinois State Police trooper was not injured, but multiple injuries were initially reported.
The Illinois State Police trooper was doing CPR on one patient injured in the crash.
The patient was later reported to have suffered traumatic cardiac arrest.
Firefighter/paramedics from Des Plaines, Glenview, Niles, and Northbrook were assigned.
A crew on arrival to the scene just north of Golf Road reported two vehicles damaged with CPR in progress. At least five ambulances were dispatched to the scene.
The crash was initially believed to be in an outer lane of of northbound I-294.
Northbound I-294 was completely shut down at Golf Road, where there are no northbound exits. The nearest northbound exits before the crash are at Dempster Street.
The crashed occurred about 90 minutes after an Illinois State Police trooper was seriously injured in a crash on the northbound lanes of I-94 (Tri-State).
